The Universal Answer

Alice Duer Miller

Oh, there you go again,
      Invading man’s domain!
It’s Nature’s laws, you know, you are defying.
      Don’t fancy that you can
      Be really like a man,
So what’s the use of all this fuss and trying?
It seems to me so clear,
      That women’s highest sphere
Is being loving wives and patient mothers.
      Oh, can’t you be content
To be as you were meant?
    {souls
For {books belong to husbands and to brothers.

Add Keyword Tags

Separate each tag with a space. You may add as many tags as you'd like to each poem.

What are tags?
Tags, sometimes called “folksonomies,” are words that describe or categorize a poem, like “20th century modernism” or “Italian sonnet”. Tags can help you find poems that have something in common, based on how other people classify them.
