Born in Douglas, New Brunswick, January 10, 1860. Educated at the University of New Brunswick. After a period of teaching, he turned to journalism and was editor for a time of "The Week", Toronto, and associate editor of "The Illustrated American". Mr. Roberts has been a voluminous writer as novelist, naturalist, and poet. His volumes of verse are: "Orion, and Other Poems", 1880; "In Divers Tones", 1887; "Songs of the Common Day", 1893; "The Book of the Native", 1896; "New York Nocturnes", 1898; "Poems", 1901; "The Book of the Rose", 1903; Collected Poems, 1907.
