Jocelyn Emerson holds degrees from Smith College (A.B.) and the University of Iowa (M.A., M.F.A.) where she was a Teaching-Writing Fellow.

Her poems and reviews have appeared in American Letters & Commentary, Barrow Street, Black Warrior Review/Warrior Web, Boston Review, Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, Epoch, New American Writing, Seneca Review, and elsewhere.

Emerson has published a chapbook, Confirmations of the Rapt (Red Dog Press), and her first book, Sea Gate, was published by Alice James Books in 2002.

She is completing a Ph.D. in the University Professors Program at Boston University where she is also the Assistant Director of the Honors Program in the College of Arts and Sciences.

She has a cat with an elaborate name.
